Tom D'Andrea
Drums
Tom was born in Keewatin, Minn. where he attended & graduated from public school.
He graduated from the University of Minnesota, and is a Psychology professor.
He has also served as Vice President of Union College in Schenectady.
As a youngster, Tom was a natural percussionist and jazz drummer. In 1958 he
received a grand award at the first Intercollegiate Jazz Festival at Notre Dame University.
He advanced in jazz to a two week appearance at the Blue Note in Chicago, on a bill with Sarah Vaughan & the Herbie Mann Quartet.
In between his college profession in the fifties, there was time for road trips with jazz
trumpeter Doc Evans & Band. Tom has been on appearances with Georgie Auld and Ernestine Anderson.
During the Seventies, Tom did countless appearances with classical orchestras and ensembles in Minnesota, New Hampshire & Philadelphia.
After becoming Vice President of Union College in Schenectady, he appeared at the Van Dyck Jazz
Club with Herb Ellis and Charlie Byrd. He also has done shows for Andy Williams and Perry Como at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
He joined Skip Parsons' Riverboat Jazz Band and appeared with several jazz personalities
including Doc Cheatham, Kenny Davern, Joe Myranyi, Ed Polcer, Spanky Davis, Tom Artin, Ed Hubble, Frank Vignola, Vince Giordano & others.
Tom also plays with the Northeast Music Educators Wind Ensemble and the Glens Falls Symphony.
