Valve Trombone
Before coming to New York State in May 2014, Phil Allen had much experience as a valve trombonist, pianist, composer and arranger of jazz music, performer in a big band, creator of a 12-piece big band called Thin Air Jazz, and producer of CDs. Two months after his arrival, he made his first appearance (July 12, 2014) with Skip Parsons' Riverboat Jazz Band.
Phil Allen and Mike Benedict have recently formed a small big band (12-piece) called the Phil Allen/Michael Benedict Concert Jazz Band. Their first gig will be June 14, 2015 at the Lark Tavern in Albany. Instruments performing are 4 saxophones, 3 trumpets, 2 trombones, a piana, a bass, and drums.
