Ernie joined the Skip Parsons' Riverboat Jazz Band in 1973 and has been playing with them ever since.

The Ballston Spa Fire Department Band in 1960. Ernie Belanger, age 15, is at the right with his first new tuba, a Conn Sousaphone. This is the same instrument that he played at the 1980 Winter Olympics with Skip Parsons' Riverboat Jazz Band. In Dec 2006, Ernie is still going to Thursday evening band practices at the Firehouse. Ernie took his sons with him to practices as they were growing up. Now, he takes his 13-year old grandson.
